Discovering Donna

Posted in Life by Donna on May 31, 2009

It’s hard for me to want to get on the computer when I get home and on the weekends.  But I’m trying to make myself.  This has been a trying week for me.  I started off the weekend sick, last weekend and it only got worse.  I password protected a post because it was gory and I really didn’t want to subject you to it if you didn’t want to read it.  Needless to say, I had a horrible period.  Well, I’m still having it but we’re working on that.  I’m having to take a high dosage of birth control pills right now and the results are leaving me a little ughhhhish.  It was 4 a day for 4 days and now I’m on the 3 a day for 4 days cycle.  Then it goes to 2 and then 1.  But I’m left with cramps and I’ve never had this experience before.  They go away for a while and then come back.  And we’re not just talking about easy cramps either.  These require prescription meds to make them stop.  What’s a girl to do??

I’m so ready to feel better.

How about you?  How is life treating you?

I Felt the Earth Move…..

Posted in Life by Donna on May 20, 2009

So yesterday I was sitting at my desk at work, just working away, it was about 4 maybe a little before.  Then IT HAPPENED.  Holy crap.  Talk about scaring you to death!

Just so you know, I work in a high rise.  About 60 some odd floors to be exact.  It’s not a neat thing when you feel the building sway and see your computer move.

Granted it was only for a few seconds but still!!!  I mean seriously how is a girl supposed to deal with an earthquake from the 8th floor????

Time Flew

Posted in Life by Donna on May 18, 2009

This weekend- was there really a weekend?  It sort of passed in a blur for me.  I stayed on the go from Friday afternoon until about 10 last night.

I had such grand plans for this weekend too.  I was going to work on the book club and on my lists and so much but between household things to do, errand running and everything else, I didn’t get a chance to do it.

I feel like such a slacker.  I’m so thankful that this is my half day week though and I’ll be off at 11:30 on Friday.  In the mean time, I wonder what all I can get done….

What’s Up With This?

Posted in Soap Box by Donna on May 15, 2009

Ok- I’m stepping up on my soapbox for just a little bit. Today’s children is our subject.

Now my daddy and grandmother raised me right. They taught me to say Yes Ma’am/Sir or No Ma’am/Sir when responding to people who were my elders. Yes I use that word and yes I am from the south. Damn proud of it right now too.

Today’s youth and I can name a couple in particular you ask questions and their responses are “yeah, Yeah.” WTF is up with that?? Where has the respect gone? Butting their noses in where they don’t belong on personal matters, feeling like they can get away with murder. I mean seriously, what happened to those good natured children that their parents were/may have been? Did they drop the ball or does today’s youth just not care.

Maybe it’s because I’m on the West Coast and it’s not the same here. I dunno. But every time I hear someone younger than me not say Yes Ma’am/Sir or No Ma’am/Sir when they should, I want to throttle them.

Does anyone else feel the same??? Or is it just me?

Inspiration has struck

K sports fans, i’m going for a revision of sorts. What’s that’s going to be is a wait and see. I’m plotting that this weekend but I can say this, more than likely the layout won’t change. No, it’s other things I’m going to change.

Now how is that for a way to keep you on your toes!!!!!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Posted in Life by Donna on May 10, 2009

So today I’m wishing all mom’s Happy Mother’s Day. I’m thinking about Lori, Mom, and my real mom.

Lori because she’s got this beautiful little angel in heaven named Logan and then she has this rambunctious sweet little man named Corban. I miss her and Corban and today for some reason she is on my mind. I’ve got to call her later.

Mom I just got off the phone with. Her wish for mother’s day was to have all her kids home and she unfortunately didn’t get it yet. That will happen one day though. When I’m not sure. I hope she has fun today.

And last but not least, my real mom. Well I can’t say that because she wasn’t a real mom. No intended disrespect. It’s just a fact. I just have to wonder how things would have changed had we had a real mother daughter relationship instead of her leaving. Reflections huh?

Oh well, I want to be on a happy note and so that’s what I’m doing.

I hope you all have a great day!
