Name that Emotion for $100, Alex

Posted in Life by Donna on June 9, 2009

So I am feeling something lately, what it is, I don’t know.

I can say it’s unhappiness, dissatisfaction, frustration, depression, etc.  But I can’t say that it’s specifically one of those emotions.

I want more of something but what that something is I don’t know.  I feel like the only real thing to do is change me first and then go from there.  Ok- So I started with the hair, incase you don’t already know, I’m a blonde.  So my next adventure is to get the female issue somewhat straightened out and then get my weight straightened out.

But past that, I’m a blank.  There is so much I want to do but I can’t just put a finger on it.

Do you ever just have one of those days?

Warning–Female on Her Soapbox

Yes Folks, that’s right, I’m on my soapbox AGAIN!

Today’s subject:  People who just don’t give a crap about others property.

Example #1:

(This is an actual conversation)

Teenager: *leans back on chair at kitchen table and it creaks and sounds like it’s about to break* not to mention it’s right in front of a window 3 stories high–

Adult-Dude- how about you not lean on that for me.

Teenager-Why, it’s not yours

Adult-Actually it is.  It was given to us by your parents.  So you break it you buy it.

Adult-It sounds like it’s going to break, one already has, please put all four legs on the floor.  That was your great grandmothers.

Teenager-No it wasn’t.

Adult-Fine, it was your grandmother’s your father’s mom.  So have some respect.

Teenager-But she wasn’t my grandmother.  So much much?

Teenager- You said you break it you buy it, how much?

By this time, frankly, I’m livid that I’ve been disrespected in my own home, but more so livid that he’s chosen to disrespect his own family.  I let it go for the time being, I advise the hubby who says he can’t do anything about it, that’s a dad issue.  He does however tell the teenager, how upset that I am for being dissed.  So he comes back and apologizes but the sincerity is not felt.  He said what he did with a very serious straight face and then comes back and says he was only joking.  Yeah right.  I’m still livid over that, but I’m letting it go.  After this blog post that is

Situation #2 not giving a crap about other’s property.  And Ladies, this is to you!  How about when we have a restroom that is shared between two offices on one floor we flush???  It’s just one extra step in the whole process.  It seems every day I go into the bathroom at work and at least 1 toliet has not been flushed and it’s only been peed in.  Please ladies, they provide seat covers and everything imaginable in there for us for free.  The only thing I would ask is you show them the same respect you would if you go into someone’s home.  I mean seriously, would you go to your mother’s house or best friend’s house, use their facilites and not flush???

Ok- so what say you about this?  Come on, let’s hear it!!!

The progress of the lists

Posted in Life by Donna on June 7, 2009

I haven’t really updated that much in a while have I?

I’ve been to Dave and Buster’s (not impressed) and to the Reagan Library (very impressed).

I’m also trying to decide how much I want to revamp them again.  Learning to love you more is no longer taking submissions so that would be something I would look at changing.  I just have this idea that I want to do for my life and for the list-It’s just a matter of actually doing it.  Maybe it would be good to map it out first…

What do you think???

It’s hard for me to want to get on the computer when I get home and on the weekends.  But I’m trying to make myself.  This has been a trying week for me.  I started off the weekend sick, last weekend and it only got worse.  I password protected a post because it was gory and I really didn’t want to subject you to it if you didn’t want to read it.  Needless to say, I had a horrible period.  Well, I’m still having it but we’re working on that.  I’m having to take a high dosage of birth control pills right now and the results are leaving me a little ughhhhish.  It was 4 a day for 4 days and now I’m on the 3 a day for 4 days cycle.  Then it goes to 2 and then 1.  But I’m left with cramps and I’ve never had this experience before.  They go away for a while and then come back.  And we’re not just talking about easy cramps either.  These require prescription meds to make them stop.  What’s a girl to do??

I’m so ready to feel better.

How about you?  How is life treating you?

I Felt the Earth Move…..

Posted in Life by Donna on May 20, 2009

So yesterday I was sitting at my desk at work, just working away, it was about 4 maybe a little before.  Then IT HAPPENED.  Holy crap.  Talk about scaring you to death!

Just so you know, I work in a high rise.  About 60 some odd floors to be exact.  It’s not a neat thing when you feel the building sway and see your computer move.

Granted it was only for a few seconds but still!!!  I mean seriously how is a girl supposed to deal with an earthquake from the 8th floor????

Time Flew

Posted in Life by Donna on May 18, 2009

This weekend- was there really a weekend?  It sort of passed in a blur for me.  I stayed on the go from Friday afternoon until about 10 last night.

I had such grand plans for this weekend too.  I was going to work on the book club and on my lists and so much but between household things to do, errand running and everything else, I didn’t get a chance to do it.

I feel like such a slacker.  I’m so thankful that this is my half day week though and I’ll be off at 11:30 on Friday.  In the mean time, I wonder what all I can get done….

What’s Up With This?

Posted in Soap Box by Donna on May 15, 2009

Ok- I’m stepping up on my soapbox for just a little bit. Today’s children is our subject.

Now my daddy and grandmother raised me right. They taught me to say Yes Ma’am/Sir or No Ma’am/Sir when responding to people who were my elders. Yes I use that word and yes I am from the south. Damn proud of it right now too.

Today’s youth and I can name a couple in particular you ask questions and their responses are “yeah, Yeah.” WTF is up with that?? Where has the respect gone? Butting their noses in where they don’t belong on personal matters, feeling like they can get away with murder. I mean seriously, what happened to those good natured children that their parents were/may have been? Did they drop the ball or does today’s youth just not care.

Maybe it’s because I’m on the West Coast and it’s not the same here. I dunno. But every time I hear someone younger than me not say Yes Ma’am/Sir or No Ma’am/Sir when they should, I want to throttle them.

Does anyone else feel the same??? Or is it just me?
