What’s Better than Gold?

So it’s almost 1 am Cali time. It started raining about 8 tonight and hasn’t let up yet. This has been coming for the past two days. And it’s given me in inability to sleep. Something about this rain isn’t really that soothing. At least not for me. So I’m up. Good thing I got about an hour and a half nap this afternoon.

I’ve been thinking about this post since I got up from my nap. Trying to figure out what I was going to say. But you know. There is nothing better than writing what comes right out of your heart and head right? So here we go..Let’s see…..

Today was fabulous. And I say that because well, I received the neatest care package today. You know how you get those and it just throws you off because you weren’t expecting it? Maybe “thows you off” isn’t the best choice of words.

Humbles. That is a better choice. Let me tell you about this package.

Rach who I went to school with at UA and I hadn’t spoken for YEARS until recently. We reconnected and it’s been awesome. You should check out her blog sometime. It’s on my side bar. Well, she is the one who sent me this package I am just in awe about.

Well what’s in it? You ask. Is it made of gold? Noooooo, it’s better. Better than gold? Oh yeah.

You see, she bought me a UA scarf that is warm and wonderful and reminds me of AL, of the University and some wonderful memories of working at the education library. Remember that time we got Chris the birthday cake and used trick candles that didn’t quite go out? LOL I’ve got the pictures still.

But in addition to that wonderfully warm scarf, she included some other more unique items. A beautiful card to me that she no doubt made with some wonderful words. And she included some cards that she made. And you know what, I think they are better than the ones you buy at the store. She also included this wonderful notebook that she made. I want to be that artistic when I grow up!

I think the thing that made this so great was the love, the care and the time that was taken to put it together. You know how they say “It’s the thought that counts.”? Well this was exactly what they were talking about.

So thank you Rach! You made my day.
